The Thimbles Summary
The First 20 Hours
The book in one sentence
You don’t need 10,000 hours to get good at something: about 20 hours of focused, well-designed practice will take you from clueless to reasonably competent.
Who it's for
Busy adults who want to pick up a new skill, from an instrument to a programming language, but keep giving up in the frustrating early stage.

Most of us just want to be good enough to enjoy a skill or use it at work. Kaufman argues that the steepest part of the learning curve comes early, and that around 20 hours of smart, deliberate practice gets most people past the initial frustration barrier.
