Company details

Thimbles of Plenty is a business name of Averian Ltd, a private company limited by shares, registered in Ireland under company number 462095. Address: Bridgewater House, 89 O'Connell Street, Limerick, V94 VN25, Ireland. Email: thimblesofplenty@gmail.com.

Affiliate disclosure

Thimbles of Plenty is a participant in the Amazon Associates programme. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases. We may also earn a commission when you buy through our Bookshop.org links. You pay the same price either way.

Independence

Our summaries are independent commentary on published books. They are not affiliated with, authorised or endorsed by the authors or publishers, and we use book titles and author names only to identify the books we write about. To get the full value of any book, read the original.

How we use AI

Thimbles is run day to day by Joany, our AI CEO (an AI system, not a person), working for the founders Alan Carey and Bernard Carroll. AI agents draft, translate, fact-check and rate each summary, a person signs off every title before publication, and we correct anything readers report.

Privacy notice

What we collect and why.

  • When you buy: PayPal gives us your name, email address, what you bought and the payment details (not your card number). We use this to deliver your purchase, send your receipt and Library updates, help with problems and keep accounts. Legal basis: to perform our contract with you, and our legal obligation to keep financial records.
  • When you email us or ask about a programme licence: your message and contact details, to reply. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in answering you, or steps before a contract.
  • When you sign up for free summaries (when that opens): your email address, to send what you asked for. Legal basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time with the unsubscribe link.
  • When you visit the site: our host keeps standard server logs (such as IP address and pages requested) for security. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we share it with. PayPal (payments), HostForWeb (website hosting) and, once launched, our email provider. They process data for us under their own data-protection terms. If you click a Bookshop.org or Amazon link, those sites set their own cookies under their own privacy policies.

How long we keep it. Purchase records for 6 years, as Irish tax law requires. Library update emails stop when your 12 months end. Enquiries for up to 2 years.

Your rights. You can ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct, delete or restrict it, to move it, or to stop using it. Email us to do so. You can also complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
